Why did we create The DCE Tool?

Angiogenesis, or the formation of new blood vessels, plays a critical role in the process of cancer progression.  It is also a physiologic surrogate of tumor biology (i.e. tumor aggressiveness) and environmental stress (i.e. hypoxia) that may influence a tumor's response to treatment.  Although DCE-CT/MR perfusion studies can provide a direct and quantitative assessment of tumor blood flow, the analysis of these studies are computationally demanding and time consuming.

The development of an effective and efficient tool to analyze data for large-scale clinical trials of DCE-CT/MR perfusion studies can help accelerate the use of perfusion imaging as an important imaging biomarker in oncology.  The DCE Tool is developed to achieve this goal.
